Hello beautiful people, how have you all been? Today I’m doing something a little different and I’m introducing a Movie Review on you guys. Now I’m no critic, nor do I go around judging movies all day but when I watch something good I figure I’ll pass it on. So the title of my post is also the name of the movie Sylvie’s Love and it’s available on Amazon Prime. I don’t know of anyone else streaming this movie but if you want to check out that’s where you’ll have to go. So let me just set the stage for this movie its a romantic movie based on when a young woman meets an aspiring saxophonist in her fathers record shop in 1950’s, their love ignites a sweeping romance that transcends changing time, geography, and professional success. The movie is 1 hr 56 mins long it stars Tessa Thompson, Nnamdi Asomugha, Aja Naomi King, & Eva Longoria as well as some other talented stars, this was just to name the few. Now back in one of my post called “Tis the Season to be Jolly”. I spoke a little about my thought on certain type of movies and if you haven’t checked it out, please go ahead and give it a read.
I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed this movie and for me I don’t always like a crazy drama where you have to get hurt constantly or put up with a lot just to say you found true love because we know that is not always the truth. Nor do I think it’s an entire fairy tale through out either,we must remember most fairy tales start off on how they met and typically ends once their union is successfully ignited. So although we may bash fairy tales now as an adult it doesn’t mean how you may meet someone is not that, it’s just that we usually never hear about your story anymore once you’ve ignited. Will there be times of hurt, and joy, and laughter and sorrow it can be but as long as you keep God at the center and constantly work on it you to can live happily ever after. Now I’ve said this once and I’ll continue to say representation matters when it comes to looking up at a screen or most importantly in real life to see love being display from people that looks like you and enjoy hobbies or skills that you do.
Please don’t get me wrong I’m not saying only people of the same race should be together, when I say representation matters. I mean that we are all so uniquely blended in this melting pot of different ethnicity and racial mixture of love, and to constantly on the Big headline Blockbuster movies see a majority of one race in a romantic love story is not a true representation of this world we live in. I can only speak for myself but I LOVE to see a Black Love story! being told without all of the craziness involve. It has some life moments that is true of real people circumstances but the story was never overly stepped or to far fetched. It was a really good movie I would watch it again and I wanted to tell you guys about it so you can check it out as well. -Signed: Sista Luv
