Hello beautiful people, how are you all? I’m coming through with a movie review to add to your watchlist. Now this will be my second time on the blog writing about a movie and I don’t do it enough but when something is just so good how can I not? If your new to the blog and haven’t read any of my previous post before one thing you will get to know, is representation really matters to me when it comes to movies and books. And just so you know I’m enthusiastic for romance movies especially when the characters looks like me and even share roots of a culture I know all too well. This movie showcased black love, music, laughter, and cultural experiences that transcends across all platforms and it’s a beautiful thing to see.
Don’t worry I’m not going to hold out on you any longer, the movie I want you all to go check out and see is called BOXING DAY – You can find this on Amazon prime and if you’re a prime member it is free for you to watch. Honestly guys this is not a paid partnership to get you to grab a membership with Amazon. This is just one Island woman sharing an awesome movie to my fellow movie lovers that showcased an Island family cultural, mix with the black British culture, that shows a sweet romance story that transcends all barriers. This is not something we get to see all of the time and it was directed by Actor, writer, director with this major cinema debut Aml Ameen. I wish I can really express so much more about this movie to you guys, but I don’t want to give too much away because I really want you to check it out for yourselves. I know some may read this and you make think am I making this too much of a big deal? Let me just leave you with this, to see a Rom-Com as the movie world calls it but a well written and directed movie with cast who looks like me, share cultural similarities to me, and is about love I’m all for it every time. This movie showcase what it mean to be at odd with your family at times or to feel abandoned and trying to find your way back between two worlds. This movies takes us on a tour of love, heartache, victories, success, good time with your loved ones/friends and bad times with those same people. There’s soul in the there eyes, and it puts Caribbean people in a spotlight showing a fun spirited sign and the beauty of how much a simple gathering with music, games, and food can really speak to the heart of many. (Kind of a side note) Even the name is just super trendy because I was talking to my dad back home in Bahamas, before I even noticed the movie and we were talking about Boxing Day, and about the celebration we do here in Bahamas for it. When I saw the movie picture on Amazon with that name, I was like wait hold up, read the little movie preview and was like okay bet let’s check this out lol.
